Water & Sewer Department

The East Greenwich Public Water & Sewer Department is responsible for delivering quality water to homes within the water service areas of the town. The sewer department provides public sewer service to homes within the sanitary sewer service areas of the town. Some homes in East Greenwich have well or septic systems which are privately owned, inspected and maintained by the home owner. 

If you have a public water or sewer issue, contact the Township before you call a private plumber. They may be able to eliminate the problem or tell you if a plumber is necessary.

*** Permanent Water Conservation Ordinance is in Effect*** Lawn/vegetation watering with sprinklers is permitted every other day at any time according to you house number. If you have an even address you may water your lawn or other vegetation on even calendar days. If you have an odd house number you may water your lawn or other vegetation on odd calendar days. New Seed/Sod: Newly seeded or sodded lawns are exempt from the odd / even restrictions and may be watered at any time for 14 days. Homeowner must register with the water department before watering.

These restrictions have been enacted due to lack of water pressure and volume caused by well-pumping restrictions imposed by the NJ Department of Environmental Protection.

Bills are mailed quarterly or can be viewed online at the address below. They are payable by cash or check in person or by credit / debit cards for a nominal charge online through a third-party company. 

MAINTENANCE OF: 3 Municipal wells, 2 1 million gallon storage tanks, 58 miles of water main, 3400 water service lines/curb stops, 375 fire hydrants, Insure that all New Jersey DEP regulations and testing is preformed, Produce annual quality water drinking reports, Quarterly meter reading of over 3400 water customers, Supply and maintain water meters for 3400 water customers, Respond to any customer water concerns, Review new development construction & coordinate new water/sewer connections., Maintain 10 sewer lift/ pumping stations, Monitor 36 miles of sewer main, 1380 sewer laterals/cleanouts, 350 manholes, Respond to any resident concerns or sewer backups
